Senior Claims Handler / Claims Handler Ai Marine Risk AS — Bergen, Norway Full-time, Permanent | Working Language: English About Ai Marine Ai Marine is a marine-focused Managing General Agent (MGA) backed by 100% Lloyd's capacity. Headquartered in London, with offices in Bergen and Stockholm, Ai Marine was established in December 2023 and operates with a global geographical remit, subject to local regulations. We insure a wide range of vessels across blue, green and brown water sectors, serving clients across international markets. Our ambition on the claims side is clear: to strengthen our lead portfolio and continue building a scalable, high-quality marine insurance claims operation. As we grow, we are looking for the right candidate to join our Bergen team as a Senior Claims Handler or Claims Handler, depending on experience. About the Role In this role, you will handle global market marine insurance claims, working closely with shipowners, operators, insurance carriers, lawyers, brokers, surveyors, and internal and external stakeholders worldwide. Based in Bergen, you will work directly alongside our Group Claims Director, who is also located in the Bergen office, giving you strong day-to-day leadership, mentorship, and collaboration from the outset. Responsibilities Take full ownership of marine insurance claims throughout their entire lifecycle, from first notification through to resolution Ensure the timely, accurate, and professional handling of claims in a complex international environment Communicate clearly and proactively with a wide range of stakeholders including shipowners, brokers, lawyers, surveyors, and insurers across multiple markets and time zones Build and maintain strong working relationships with both internal teams and external partners worldwide Manage documentation, reporting, and case files to a high standard of accuracy, meeting regulatory and market expectations Contribute actively to workflow improvements, the development of digital tools, and the optimisation of claims processes as the business scales Reflect on existing procedures and recommend smarter, more efficient ways of working Take increasing responsibility for more complex claims and strategic case management as your experience and confidence grow Support the Group Claims Director in delivering a consistently high standard of claims handling across the portfolio Requirements A solid understanding of claims management and its impact on clients and the wider business Strong interpersonal and communication skills — you build trust with stakeholders across borders and cultures The ability to explain complex issues clearly and confidently, whether in writing, over the phone, or in meetings Comfort working across multiple time zones and with partners in different countries A proactive, self-driven approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement The ability to manage structured tasks with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail An openness to new tools, digital workflows, and innovative ways of working A collaborative mindset and a genuine commitment to putting clients at the heart of everything you do Eligibility to work in Norway Experience in marine insurance or a related field is an advantage.
