About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Design Engineer to join our engineering consultancy team based in Doha, Qatar. In this role, you will play a central part in delivering high-quality engineering solutions across the full project lifecycle — from conceptual design through to post-design support and on-site technical assistance. You will work closely with clients, contractors, and suppliers to ensure that all designs meet project specifications, client requirements, and applicable international standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Review technical submissions from suppliers in accordance with client specifications and relevant international standards
• Conduct comprehensive project engineering work including feasibility studies, conceptual design, preliminary design, detailed design, and post-design services
• Schedule and manage submittals, shop drawing reviews, and material approvals within established project timeframes
• Coordinate between multiple suppliers to ensure compatibility of various system components
• Liaise with clients to obtain approvals for materials and equipment to be supplied
• Review drawings and technical documents required for regulatory and client approvals
• Organise feasibility studies and detailed route surveys, advise on alternate proposals, and finalise the most suitable routing solutions
• Develop detailed testing and commissioning plans for all project items and determine required material quantities based on route design
• Perform design calculations in accordance with project specifications and applicable engineering standards
• Finalise electrical designs for transmission networks to meet specified power transmission capacity requirements
• Organise and manage the procurement of required material certifications
• Attend technical meetings and site discussions with clients and contractors, providing technical support for site activities
• Conduct data analysis, produce detailed engineering reports, and deliver presentations to clients and relevant agencies
• Identify and evaluate emerging technologies appropriate to project needs
• Supervise draughtsmen in the preparation and coordination of engineering drawings
• Mentor, guide, and support junior members of the design team
• Undertake additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by senior management

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or Civil Engineering (minimum requirement)
• Experience: A minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in a design engineering role, preferably within a consultancy or infrastructure environment
• Software Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other relevant design and structural software
• Solid understanding of electrical design principles, particularly in relation to power transmission networks
• Familiarity with international engineering standards and industry best practices
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to produce accurate design calculations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously and deliver within defined project timelines
• A proactive, detail-oriented approach with a commitment to quality and accuracy
