About the Role Today, AI use at EUROMAR is largely ad hoc — browser-based tools, isolated experiments, and a handful of home-built solutions. That is about to change. As Head of AI Strategy & Enablement, your mandate is to transform how every team at EUROMAR harnesses artificial intelligence: purposefully, safely, and with clear business outcomes. Reporting directly to the Chief Digital Officer, you will begin as an individual contributor with the real prospect of building and leading a small team as the function grows. This is a rare opportunity to define an AI capability from the ground up within a specialised, internationally connected organisation in a highly regulated industry. Responsibilities Define and own the AI vision and roadmap — articulate a coherent strategy tied directly to EUROMAR's operational and commercial priorities, and translate it into a realistic, phased plan Drive organisation-wide AI enablement — ensure every department can use AI independently and confidently, designing training programmes built around real tasks, identifying internal champions, and establishing clear standards for responsible use Build and maintain a governance framework — put sensible guardrails in place covering data protection, handling of sensitive information, output traceability, and vendor independence, ensuring EUROMAR retains the flexibility to switch tools and models as the market evolves Identify, prioritise, and deliver high-value use cases — assess opportunities across the business, including document and contract review within the ship registration process, breaking down data silos, and automating routine workflows, and see selected initiatives through from scoping to deployment Manage vendors and external partnerships — evaluate and negotiate with technology providers, maintain awareness of the rapidly evolving AI landscape, and bring forward timely recommendations Keep stakeholders aligned — communicate progress, risks, and outcomes clearly to leadership and operational teams alike, maintaining buy-in across the organisation Monitor and iterate — track the performance and impact of AI initiatives, refine approaches based on evidence, and ensure the organisation stays ahead of emerging best practices and regulatory developments Requirements Demonstrated experience designing an AI or digital transformation strategy and successfully rolling it out — not just advising, but delivering Several years of experience in transformation, change management, or digital enablement roles, with a strong focus on adoption and capability building A solid, business-level understanding of what AI and machine learning can realistically achieve — and where their limits lie Comfortable working without writing code, while being technically credible in conversations with engineers and vendors Exceptional communication skills — equally able to brief a board member and support a first-time AI user, bringing people along rather than leaving them behind Fluent English (written and spoken); proficiency in Portuguese or German is a meaningful advantage Nice to Have Experience working in a regulated industry, maritime sector, or B2B professional services environment Working knowledge of data protection regulations (including GDPR) and AI ethics frameworks Familiarity with enterprise AI tooling, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or workflow automation platforms What EUROMAR Offers A genuine opportunity to shape how a growing, international organisation goes digital — with real authority and visibility A small, international team with short decision paths and direct access to leadership Flexible, hybrid working based in Lisbon A dedicated budget for learning and professional development A competitive salary and an attractive benefits package reflective of the seniority and scope of the role Equal Opportunity EUROMAR is an equal-opportunity employer.
