Postdoc Position in Single Molecule Fluorescence Imaging
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with experimental biophysics experience to join our single molecule biophysics and chemistry group at iNANO/Department of Chemistry, Aarhus University. This exciting opportunity is funded by Villum Fonden and offers a fixed-term 24-month position starting April 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter.
Research Project
This position focuses on groundbreaking single molecule fluorescence investigations examining how biomolecules fold and interact in space and time, with particular emphasis on capturing biomolecular dynamics information. You will contribute to developing cutting-edge single molecule fluorescence real-time imaging methodologies through both experimental and computational approaches.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct experimental research involving model nucleic acids, proteins, and DNA origami constructs
- Develop and implement computational procedures for advanced data analysis
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to decode single molecule imaging data
- Work closely with a second postdoc specializing in stochastic processes and statistical methods
Required Qualifications
- PhD in biophysics, chemistry, nanoscience, or related field
- Strong background in experimental biophysics
- Hands-on experience in single molecule fluorescence spectroscopy experiments (preferred)
- Advanced computational data analysis skills (preferred)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in interdisciplinary environments
Research Environment
This collaborative project brings together expertise from the single molecule biophysics and chemistry group at iNANO/Department of Chemistry with the mathematical modeling group led by Prof. Hobolth at the Department of Mathematics.
