**Professor in Indo-European Studies** The Department of Nordic Studies and Linguistics, Faculty of Humanities, University of Copenhagen seeks exceptional candidates for a permanent, full-time professorship in Indo-European Studies, available from August 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. **About the Department** The Department of Nordic Studies and Linguistics provides an international research and education environment spanning BA to PhD studies across diverse linguistic disciplines, language technology, literature, media, culture, and gender studies. **Key Responsibilities** • Conduct world-class research and contribute to the scholarly and intellectual life of the University • Exercise academic leadership and develop research areas in synergy with other researchers • Initiate and develop broad research projects in Indo-European studies with emphasis on traditional linguistic foundations and interdisciplinary approaches • Collaborate across adjacent fields including archaeology, archaeogenetics, comparative religion, and poetics • Strengthen the University's international profile through joint publications, conferences, and teaching activities • Teach at all levels and continuously develop academic programs • Supervise students from BA to PhD and postdoc levels • Fulfill administrative responsibilities **Qualification Requirements** Candidates must meet the University of Copenhagen's six criteria for professorship recognition: research excellence, teaching capability, societal impact, organizational contribution, external funding acquisition, and leadership skills. **Essential Qualifications:** • International recognition as a researcher with excellent research profile in Indo-European studies • Articulated vision and strategy for the subject area, including connections to adjacent fields • Outstanding interpersonal skills and commitment to fostering inclusive academic environments • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in teaching, research development, and administration • Strong commitment to student learning, welfare, and experience enhancement • Publications reflecting both traditional linguistic expertise and interdisciplinary approaches • Experience supervising students across all academic levels **Additional Requirements** The successful candidate is strongly encouraged to acquire Danish language proficiency within 3-6 years for teaching and colleague interaction.
