About the Role

The medtech sector is operating in a rapidly evolving landscape, with environmental sustainability, regulatory compliance, and corporate responsibility increasingly shaping how businesses across Ireland and Europe operate. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and technically grounded professional to join the Irish Medtech team and play a central role in guiding member companies through this complex and high-impact agenda.

As Executive – Sustainability & Environment, you will work directly with medtech member companies on their sustainability strategies, with a particular focus on technical policy and regulatory developments that carry commercial significance for the medtech and manufacturing sectors in Ireland. You will act as a trusted advisor and representative, supporting the Director of Irish Medtech in delivering on the association's strategic objectives across a broad range of environmental, occupational safety and health (OSH/EHS), and chemicals-related issues.

This is a role that combines deep technical knowledge with stakeholder engagement, policy analysis, and communications — offering a genuinely varied and meaningful workload in a collaborative, professional environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as Secretariat to the sectoral sustainability and OSH/EHS groups, ensuring meetings are held regularly, appropriate minutes and papers are prepared, and agreed action plans are implemented effectively
• Provide analysis and timely updates on environmental and sustainability policy and regulatory developments to relevant working groups, producing major reports and other substantive outputs where required
• Monitor and assess the implications of key regulatory frameworks and policy initiatives for member companies, including (but not limited to):
• Climate Action Plan and its implications for manufacturing companies
• Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)
• European Green Deal
• Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM)
• Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR)
• REACH and broader chemicals regulation
• Support the Director of Irish Medtech with lobbying and representation activities on behalf of member companies on environment and sustainability matters at both national and European level
• Develop and maintain contacts across relevant Government departments, state agencies, national regulators, and European sectoral associations
• Liaise with key external bodies including the Ibec Energy and Environment Policy Committees and relevant medtech and manufacturing sector initiatives
• Communicate proactively with member companies on a range of relevant policy issues, ensuring they are well-informed and appropriately supported
• Draft letters, submissions, and position papers for circulation to members for review and approval
• Prepare newsletters, briefing documents, and content for digital communications channels
• Be an active and engaged member of the broader Irish Medtech team, contributing to the overall strategy and objectives of the association
• Carry out additional duties as identified and agreed with the Director of Irish Medtech, which may extend beyond environmental sustainability, OSH/EHS, and chemicals as the role evolves over time

About You

Qualifications

• Primary degree, ideally in science or engineering
• Relevant postgraduate qualifications are an advantage

Knowledge

• Strong technical knowledge of environmental sustainability issues as they relate to the manufacturing sector
• Sound understanding of the Irish and EU regulatory environment for environmental matters and its commercial implications
• Familiarity with the business and sustainability challenges facing the medtech and/or manufacturing sector in Ireland, the EU, and globally

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years' relevant postgraduate experience in an industry, regulatory, or policy environment
• Proven experience working with teams, working groups, and committees, and comfortable operating at a senior level
• Demonstrated communications experience including public speaking, presentations, and facilitating meetings
