About the Role

The Clinical Coordinator will join the Clinical Practice Team within the School of Psychology, contributing directly to the design, delivery, and ongoing development of quality clinical practice training for doctorate-level clinical psychology trainees. The Clinical Practice Team is accountable for ensuring that trainees are competent and fit to practise within the Irish Health Service upon completion of the programme.

This is a specific purpose, full-time contract position, providing clinical coordination support to the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology programme on an interim basis until a permanent Clinical Coordinator appointment is made through a formal recruitment competition.

The Clinical Practice Team coordinates, monitors, and assesses approximately 54 trainees completing clinical training, in alignment with professional accreditation requirements and statutory regulation. The programme maintains links with over 300 statutory and voluntary service training placements and clinical supervisors across Ireland.

Applicants should note that there is an expectation that the successful candidate's working week will include Monday, as this is the primary administrative and teaching day for the programme.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to the coordination, monitoring, and assessment of clinical practice training for doctorate-level clinical psychology trainees in line with accreditation and statutory regulatory requirements
• Support the design and ongoing development of high-quality clinical placement structures and training frameworks
• Liaise with over 300 training placement sites and clinical supervisors to maintain and develop effective working partnerships
• Provide primary clinical supervision to psychologists in training, ensuring adherence to professional standards and trainee development needs
• Monitor trainee progress across placements, identifying and addressing concerns in a timely and appropriate manner
• Contribute to programme administration, including scheduling, record-keeping, and reporting activities associated with clinical practice
• Participate in teaching and learning activities on designated programme days, including Mondays as the primary course day
• Support the wider Clinical Practice Team in quality assurance processes and ongoing programme review
• Engage with accreditation bodies and relevant statutory organisations as required

Requirements

• Doctoral-level qualification in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent recognised qualification)
• Eligibility for registration as a Clinical Psychologist with the relevant regulatory body in Ireland
• Demonstrated experience providing primary clinical supervision to a minimum of five Psychologists in Training, of which at least three must be Psychologists in Clinical Training (this is an essential requirement and must be clearly addressed in your application)
• Strong understanding of professional accreditation frameworks and statutory regulation governing clinical psychology training in Ireland
• Proven ability to work on own initiative, exercise sound professional judgement, and resolve problems effectively
• Excellent organisational and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience working collaboratively across multidisciplinary and multi-site environments
• Ability to engage effectively with trainees, clinical supervisors, placement providers, and academic staff
