Job Description

Raw Material Help Desk Specialist | Airbus Global Business Services — Lisbon, Portugal

Permanent | Professional Level | Supplier Management

About Airbus & the AGBS Unit

Airbus pioneers sustainable aerospace for a safe and united world. The company constantly innovates to provide efficient and technologically advanced solutions across aerospace, defense, and connected services. In commercial aviation, Airbus offers modern, fuel-efficient airliners alongside a comprehensive suite of support services. Airbus is also a European leader in defense and security and one of the world's leading space businesses. In helicopters, Airbus provides the most efficient civil and military rotorcraft solutions and services worldwide.

Founded in 2021, Airbus Global Business Services (AGBS) plays a vital role in Airbus' transformation journey — driving standardization, harmonization, digitalization, and automation of end-to-end processes across all overhead functions, including Procure to Pay. The AGBS unit is built on a culture of data-driven decision-making, cross-functional collaboration, and a pioneering spirit that rejects siloed ways of working. Every team member is expected to take ownership of outcomes for internal customers while living the Airbus values: customer focus, integrity, respect, creativity, reliability, and teamwork.

About the Role

Airbus has built on its strong European heritage to become truly global, with approximately 180 locations and over 12,000 direct suppliers worldwide. The company operates aircraft and helicopter final assembly lines across Asia, Europe, and the Americas, and has achieved a more than sixfold increase in its order book since 2000.

We are seeking a reactive, dynamic, results-oriented, and analytically strong professional to join the Raw Material Help Desk (RMHD) team. The RMHD is the most powerful crisis-response service within Airbus, purpose-built to support Supply Chain Quality Managers (SCQMs) and protect Airbus Final Assembly Lines (FALs) when raw material disruptions or shortages arise.

In this role, you will be an integral part of a specialized team that manages urgent raw material sourcing requests, maintains a global network of distributors and brokers, and drives continuous improvement of RMHD processes and operational performance. You will be the critical link between internal stakeholders and the global supply market during moments of high pressure — making speed, accuracy, and sound judgment essential qualities for success.

Responsibilities

  • Manage incoming RMHD requests end-to-end: registering requests, challenging and validating the information provided, monitoring status, and delivering timely reporting to stakeholders
  • Maintain and continuously improve the global distributors and brokers database, ensuring data is current, accurate, and comprehensive
  • Interact regularly with stockists and SCQMs, providing updates, coordinating sourcing activity, and facilitating clear communication during material disruption events
  • Monitor and drive operational performance for all internal RMHD activities, ensuring service levels and response times meet the expectations of internal customers
  • Identify and propose process improvements to enhance the efficiency, reach, and effectiveness of the RMHD service
  • Act as the RMHD focal point towards Material Focus Teams (MFTs) when escalation or cross-functional engagement is required
  • Support crisis management activities for the wider Airbus Group by conducting raw material market prospection and identifying viable sourcing alternatives under tight timelines
  • Ensure compliance with relevant quality standards and internal Airbus quality tools throughout all processes

Requirements

  • Educational background: A degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a closely related field
  • Relevant experience in Supply Chain Quality, Procurement, or a closely related discipline within an industrial or aerospace environment
  • Solid professional experience working with information systems in an operational context
  • Hands-on proficiency with internal quality tools such as Normaster, SMP, and Sea Cloud (or demonstrated ability to rapidly learn equivalent platforms)
  • Strong knowledge of material standards and aerospace raw materials — understanding of specifications, compliance requirements, and qualification processes is essential
  • Language skills: Full professional fluency in English is required; proficiency in French and/or Spanish is a significant advantage
  • Commercial acumen: Experience in market prospection, supplier negotiation, or commercial evaluation is a plus
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as operational needs require
