King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM) invites suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the position of Lecturer in the English Language Department (ELD). Located in Dhahran on the Arabian Gulf, KFUPM is a prestigious English-medium university of science, technology, and business. About the English Language Department

The ELD delivers four core undergraduate English courses designed to develop students' academic, professional, and communicative competencies:

An Introduction to Academic Discourse — Freshmen composition, reading comprehension, and academic vocabulary development
An Introduction to Report Writing — Source-based writing, presentation skills, and term report preparation
Academic and Professional Communication — Advanced research and report writing, job-seeking strategies, business correspondence, and presentation skills
Career Essentials — Interviewing skills, corporate culture awareness, and creative problem solving

Responsibilities

The academic calendar comprises two 15-week semesters (fall and spring), each followed by a two-week final examination period. Faculty responsibilities include:

Teaching four classes per day, three days per week, delivering two of the four undergraduate ELD courses each semester
Managing a student load of approximately 80 to 90 students per semester
Maintaining five office hours per week to support student learning and engagement
Contributing to course development, assessment design, and departmental initiatives
Maintaining high standards of instructional quality consistent with KFUPM's academic excellence
Participating in curriculum review, peer observation, and professional development activities as required
Supporting students in developing their academic writing, research, and communication skills for success in a science and technology-focused university environment

Qualifications & Requirements

A first degree in any discipline, combined with a master's degree or PhD in a TESOL/TEFL-related field — including TESOL, Applied Linguistics, English, Creative Writing, or Journalism — from a university ranked in the top 500 on the QS World University Rankings
A minimum of five years of full-time experience teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP) across a range of international contexts
Native-level competency in English is required; non-native speakers must hold an IELTS score of 9
Graduates of an Anglophone university are required
Holding a CELTA or DELTA qualification would be considered a distinct advantage
