About the Role

The Centre on Asia and Globalisation (CAG) at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYSPP), National University of Singapore, invites applications for a two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in International Relations, with a focus on Southeast Asia.

CAG was established in 2006 to deliver accurate, independent, and high-quality analysis on issues of regional and global significance for audiences spanning academia, policymaking, media, and the wider public. The Centre's current research agenda encompasses:

• The prospects of regional and global order
• The future of economic globalisation and de-globalisation, and their impact on Asia
• The alignment postures of Southeast Asian states in an era of superpower competition
• The impact of technology and artificial intelligence on international politics

The Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy is one of Asia's premier schools of public policy, distinguished by its internationally diverse faculty, student body, and research community. Responsibilities

The Postdoctoral Fellow will carry three principal areas of responsibility:

• Independent Research: Conduct rigorous, original, and publishable peer-reviewed research on issues that advance understanding of regional perspectives on global challenges. The fellow is expected to produce high-quality scholarly work suitable for leading academic journals and policy-relevant outlets.

• Sentosa Forum Leadership Support: Play a substantive role in the organisation, operation, and intellectual contribution of the School's inaugural Sentosa Forum, led by CAG. Responsibilities in this capacity include liaising with participants and speakers, synthesising and distilling key findings, and directing and coordinating the work of research assistants assigned to the forum.

• Intellectual Community Engagement: Contribute meaningfully to the broader intellectual life of LKYSPP — participating in seminars, workshops, and research discussions; engaging with visiting scholars and policymakers; and helping to foster the School's vibrant academic community.

Requirements

• A Ph.D. in Political Science, International Relations, or History, with a substantive focus on the international relations of Southeast Asia and/or the foreign policy of one or more countries in the region
• The doctoral degree must be in hand or formally approved prior to the fellowship start date
• Candidates whose research involves comparing the foreign policy responses of ASEAN countries to regional and global power shifts are especially encouraged to apply
• Demonstrated ability to produce publishable, peer-reviewed academic research
• Strong capacity to engage with both research and policy communities in Singapore, across Asia, and internationally
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, internationally diverse research environment
• Experience coordinating research events or working with research assistants is an advantage
