Position Overview

The Department of Food Science at Aarhus University invites applications for a 24-month postdoctoral position in Sensory & Consumer Science. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with highly engaged staff in a dynamic, international research environment while contributing to cutting-edge research in food quality perception and consumer behavior.


Position Details

  • Start Date: April 1st, 2026 (or as soon as possible thereafter)
  • Duration: 24 months
  • Research Focus: Sensory & Consumer Science within the Science Team 'Food Quality Perception and Society'

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research within ongoing Sensory and Consumer Science projects
  • Design and execute consumer studies both domestically and internationally
  • Participate in teaching and supervision at Bachelor's and Master's levels
  • Contribute to grant application writing and funding acquisition
  • Build research networks and facilitate cross-disciplinary collaboration

Required Qualifications

  • PhD degree in Sensory and Consumer Science or related field from an accredited university
  • Research Experience: Self-directed coordination of research projects with documented field research experience
  • Statistical Expertise: Proficiency in univariate and multivariate statistical analysis
  • Communication Skills: Fluency in English and Danish (preferred); proven publication record in international peer-reviewed journals
  • Methodological Knowledge: Experience with quantitative and qualitative consumer research methodologies
  • International Experience: Survey data collection experience in Denmark and internationally (advantageous)

The Department of Food Science operates within the Faculty of Technology at Aarhus University, encompassing research across the entire food value chain. Our department includes approximately 60 full-time scientific staff, 50 PhD students and postdocs, plus 30 visiting researchers, creating a truly international environment where English is the primary working language.

Salary and Benefits

Compensation follows the collective labor agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and Danish Confederation of Professional Associations, with salary based on experience and seniority.
