The Department of Agroecology at Aarhus University, Denmark, is offering a position as Assistant professor focusing on nitrogen flows in agricultural systems. You will be part of a research environment focusing on soil biogeochemistry and fertility. You will be contributing specifically to the area of nitrogen flows, losses and emissions in agricultural systems, their quantification and modelling, as well as their relation to crop fertility and productivity. The main focus of your position will be on quantifying and modelling nitrogen leaching losses and their response to different mitigation strategies and management choices in agricultural systems. You will work experimentally with new and established field experiments, including long term experiments, which involve cover crops, reduced tillage, and different fertilizer application amounts and methods, among other things. This project aims to improve the evaluation of nitrogen losses in cropping systems by analyzing experimental results and carrying out process-based modelling. Additionally, you will apply your research findings to contribute to the Department’s science-based policy support activities for the Danish government. We expect that you will be an important part of the research environment and that you will contribute positively to the social working environment. We also expect that you will take part in our teaching activities and that you will report research results in high-impact scientific journals. About the Project The postdoc will contribute to the ERC-funded project "Women in the Nordic Enlightenment (WHENCE): Changing the narratives of early modern philosophy and uncovering women's contribution to Scandinavian gender equality" led by PI Sabrina Ebbersmeyer. This groundbreaking project aims to illuminate and critically assess women's intellectual contribution to the Nordic Enlightenment by examining an extensive text corpus of unpublished and published works by over a hundred Scandinavian women. The project explores the hypothesis that Nordic women's Enlightenment significantly differed from developments elsewhere in Europe, with women playing a decisive role in establishing the Nordic countries' identification with gender equality. The expert on "Female Rule" will investigate the impact of high nobility women, particularly queens, on perceptions of female rule and women in power. This research encompasses queens' writings (correspondence and autobiographies), women's writings dedicated to queens, laudatory poems, texts about exemplary female rulers, and complementary university dissertations addressing female rule. The role will also examine gender fluidity by analyzing tensions between established gender roles and female rulers. About the Department The postdoc will be affiliated with the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on Women in the History of Philosophy (INSPIRE) and the internationally renowned Section for Philosophy within the Department of Communication. The Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences at Aarhus University invites applications for a four-year, fixed-term position as Assistant Professor in applied cell biology and cellular agriculture, starting July 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. The successful candidate will join the Gut and Host Health (GHH) research unit. Position Focus The role emphasizes applied cell biology with particular attention to: Advanced Cell-Based Models Development of robust 2D and 3D models, including organoids, to investigate complex physiological and immunological mechanisms relevant to animal health and sustainable food production. Cellular Agriculture Exploration of sustainable production of animal-derived components using cultured cells, with a focus on milk component synthesis and functional characterization. Bioactive Component Research Screening and characterization of bioactive compounds such as functional additives, antimicrobial alternatives, and pharmacological agents, using cell-based models and advanced analytical approaches. Integration of the 3R Principles Development and validation of in vitro models to reduce reliance on animal experiments, supporting ethical and sustainable research practices, particularly in the context of nutrition, disease, and animal production.
